Stardust Logbook

SF

In the far reaches of the galaxy, the exploration vessel Nocturne continued its voyage through the unknown. Captain Alicia Sandel gazed at the ship’s main screen with a thoughtful expression. Displayed before her was a peculiar silver-hued planet—one named Echo.

As the vessel approached, a strange stillness filled the air, as if something unseen awaited them.

“Detecting an unusual energy signature on the planet’s surface. Atmosphere is suitable for human life,” reported Ryan, the ship’s chief scientist.

Alicia made her decision.

“Prepare for landing.”

Upon setting foot on the planet, the crew was met with an astonishing sight. The terrain was eerily similar to Earth—flowing rivers, swaying trees—yet what struck Alicia most was the apparition before her.

A vision of her younger self, laughing alongside her parents.

“Is this… my past?” she murmured.

Ryan responded, “It appears the planet’s energy field is reading our memories and projecting them into reality.”

As the investigation continued, Alicia uncovered a truth she had never known about her father—a man so devoted to space exploration that he had distanced himself from his family. And yet, it was his dreams that had ultimately led her to the stars. The planet Echo reflected these memories vividly, yet there was an undeniable warmth within them.

But time was running out.

The crew discovered an ancient device, one capable of more than just manifesting memories—it held the potential to generate infinite energy. If brought back to Earth, it could fuel scientific progress but might also ignite conflict.

That night, beneath a sky full of stars, Alicia looked up and whispered to herself,

“Should we unveil this planet’s secrets, or…”

On the eve of their departure, she made her choice. The details were recorded in the ship’s log, but the path she chose was one that prioritized preserving the present for the sake of the future.

As the planet Echo returned to its quiet solitude, the exploration vessel Nocturne embarked on its next journey—toward new horizons yet to be discovered.
